The Wars Character List

This is a basic character list of The Wars by Timothy Findley. I probably missed some people, but this is better than nothing. I am posting this just because I did it and I don't want it to go to waste. Main characters are just too obvious to write more, and if anyone actually need stuff on main characters, go Google it.

Rowena Ross: Robert’s sister, cannot walk, rabbits
Mrs. Ross: Robert’s mother
Miss Davenport: Mrs. Ross’s friend, give chocolate bars to soldiers in train
Stuart: Robert’s brother
Peggy: Robert’s sister
Heather Lawson: Robert’s friend, interested in Robert
Bimbo: their dog
Clinton Brown from Harvard: Peggy’s friend, died in battle in Belleau Wood in June of 1918
Marian Turner: Robert’s nurse
Tom Longboat: Robert’s hero, winner of the marathon
Teddy Budge: man worked at the factory, killed the rabbits
Eugene Taffler: a soldier went to France and back, being sent to the west before re-posted overseas, later lost both his arms and tried to suicide
Clifford Purchas: a boy went to St Andrew’s with Robert, volunteered to go find the horses
Captain Ord: Robert’s cabin mate in the ship, read books
Harris: Robert’s cabin mate, in charge of the horses before Robert, strong connection with Robert, story teller, everyone is born from the sea, died of sickness
Battery Sergeant-Major Joyce: fought in the Boer War, with Robert when he killed the horse
Regis from Regina: under-aged, afraid of ocean, with Robert when he killed the horse
Monty Miles: Mrs Ross’s only brother, everyone’s favourite young man
Bugler Willie Poole: Robert’s batman
Levitt: new junior officer
Delvin: a soldier at the dugout, collects glass, gentle as a lamb, helped Robert to release the horses
Bonnycastle: a soldier at the dugout, easily depressed
Rodwell: a visitor at the dugout, keeps injured animals, a illustrator of children’s books, was a captain, killed himself after being transferred
Barbara d’Orsey: met at hospital with Taffler, Robert’s lover
Captain Jamie Villiers: was trapped in a fire, died at the hospital
Charlotte Krauss: Lady Juliet’s young companion
Juliet d’Orsey: Barbara’s sister, likes Robert
Clive: Lady Juliet’s brother, killed on first of July – battle of Somme, has pacifist friends
Michael: Lady Juliet’s brother
Captain Leather: Robert’s company commander
Corporal Bates: in charge of the men to set up gen beds
Marquis of St Aubyn’s: d’Orsey’s father, had affair with Mrs. Dolby, drowned in first week of June
Lady Emmeline: d’Oresy’s mother, wanted a simpler life
Temple: Juliet’s younger sister
Major Terry: one of Barbara’s lovers
Wilson: d’Orsey family’s maid
Lady Sorrel: ghost, daughter of the Marquis, light candles to nurse her lover Earl of Bath
Mrs Woolf: Juliet’s idol, wears marvelous clothes and hats
Mrs Dolby: Juliet’s father’s mistress
Amanda: Juliet’s doll
Major Mickle: receives mission to find Robert and the horses
Bessie Turner: Marian Turner’s sister, living with her after the war
